A return to Rufforth  29 October 2017 - David Thompson

Rufforth East

Having been at Rufforth a little over a month earlier I called in at around 11am en-route to Breighton and was expecting some activity on this the flex-wing and microlight side of the airfield but nothing was moving let alone flying , not even the friendly and welcoming Gyrocopter Experience was open . The building work on the hangar extension is continuing apace and the expected twin to take up residency in the hangar below the new clubhouse is rumoured to be PA-34 Seneca II G-GFEY which presently resides at Bagby .

Rufforth West

Home to both McLean Aviation and the York Gliding Centre but with only the gliders active today a quick call into the clubhouse and accompanied airside access was granted . Out on the airfield the clubs tarmac 18/36 runway was being used by ;

G-CKAX/KAX             DG-500 Elan Orion

G-CKFJ/KFJ               AS-K13

G-DEEG/EEG             Slingsby T65C

G-OYGC                       Eurofox 912                            tug for the above

Spread amongst the clubs two hangars , a small ‘lean-to’ hangar and the garage were ;

G-BLDG                     PA-25 Pawnee                        dismantled , stored , spares

G-BTWD                    T61F Venture TII                   mtce , ex-ZA657

G-CJVC/JVC              SZD-51-1 Junior

G-DCWH/CWH         AS-K13

G-DDYF/DYF           Grob G102 Astir

G-DSOO                     DG-500M

G-EEAD                     Slingsby T65A

G-MWUI                    Chevvron 2-32C                     mtce , Miss Behaving

 And parked outside was ;

G-LYND                    PA-25 Pawnee

 With thanks to the staff of the York Gliding Centre for the banter and accompanied access .
