History Project

Magazine Research

As many regular viewers will know, we've been trying to expand/refine the history of the airport on these pages since our initial 10-fold expansion a couple of years ago. To do this, I (CS) have been sifting through the many TriStar/Tees-Side Aviation News/Teesside Air Letter magazines available on the website and pulling any relevant snippets of information from them as described below. I've now reached the inevitable conclusion that the task is too great for one person, and I'm looking for help from anyone willing to volunteer! All you need to do is pick one or more magazines marked as available in the below PDF document, find them in the Archive Movements section, pick out the information requested below, and e-mail it in to us. The task takes approximately 5-10 minutes per magazine - less for Teesside Air Letter as this publication wisely chose to include less national content.

News - any developments relevant to the airport from the obvious (new routes/route changes) to the obscure (annual financial performance, new non-aviation companies on site etc)

Movements - any non-standard airliners operating ad-hoc charters, military transport flights, or a series of flights such as the LOT Polish Airlines IL-18 oil and gas charters. Unless it's something exceptionally stand-out, most GA can be discarded

Residents - references to new, current or past residents (including from the RAF/RCAF days)

A huge thank you in advance to all volunteers!

Note: The magazines are listed on the website and in the above PDF by movement month, each magazine displays the following month as the edition date.
