Whilst most know the Mercury Airlines Manchester flight as being the first commercial service from the airfield in 1964, there was a three week trial charter route beginning on this date operated by Eagle Airways on behalf of ICI using a De Havilland Heron aircraft
Presumably the trial did not lead to anything more permanent and the destination is unknown

Would you believe we were not Teesside's first commercial airport?! At 0840 the former RAF Greatham at Hartlepool saw a BKS Aero Charters daily service to RAF Northolt, London using Douglas Dakotas

The route proves successful - until BKS introduced the Bristol Britannia, which was a significant increase in seating capacity compared to the Ambassadors and sadly the passengers did not grow with the aircraft type, therefore BKS - with help from British European Airways (BEA) offered a reduced service until Autair International Airways were granted a route licence to take-over the service, choosing to fly into Luton over Heathrow

Loganair end all of their Jersey routes, which were just 'aircraft sitting' until international travel opened up again

Accident: AA5 G-BBSA
A resident light aircraft suffers engine failure on takeoff, followed by a suspected stall and impact with terrain from a height of 300ft, injuring the three occupants, two of them seriously. We've had many minor incidents over the years, but this is believed to be only the second accident during the civil history of the airport.
