Passenger Figures

At the time of writing we're tracking at about 5-8% down on last year, which is not enough to cry about. Aircraft movements have been considerably down all year and we can only assume there were less good flying days for GA?

Aberdeen, Alicante and Burgas were all down due decreased frequencies versus last year.

Amsterdam was the star performer - with only May recording a 5% decline year-on-year at the time of writing, which is incredible and testament to the robustness of the route. We were accused at one point of condoning Eastern's performance by removing a critical comment from the website, we categorically never at any point defended or otherwise played down their performance in those early days, but we were also keen not to raise further awareness by advertising it - had they lost [hypothetically] 3,000 PAX per month which was our estimate (thank goodness well off the mark!), how many hundreds of those lost passengers would have been down to us drawing attention to the situation?!

Corfu was just shy of 25% up due to an extra month of operation this year versus last, but would still have seen a healthy gain had it ended in September. Our sources suggest this is the only one of the four routes that is considered by Ryanair to be under-performing, however it is not thought to be in any danger.

Dalaman should have done better. 11% down versus Antalya the previous year.

Faro, Jersey and both Palma's were all more or less stagnant.

All in all, the year was about in-line with expectations.

Visitor Statistics

Not much to report; we perhaps had more C-130s than we might have expected - 18 visits from nine airframes of seven nations! Also more C17s than usual too, with 11 visits from five airframes, all RAF. Great to see an increased presence from the Royal Navy whenever the carriers are in the North Sea, presumably this was the case before we retired our last carriers too?

Despite handing over the reigns to Eastern, KLM Cityhopper managed to swing two E295s by both during March.

Great to see the Citation 650 and 750 both make a come back! With three and 14 visits respectively.

Resident Statistics

We lost Eden Flight Training during the year which fortunately didn't hurt numbers. Great to see a new private owner syndicate move in during the year! P28A G-LFSJ recorded the highest number of landings (up to 20 Dec) at 416.
