Canadian Dakota C-GEAJ   Dave Rose

The above registered Basler BT-67 Dakota is temporarily based at Humberside Airport, undertaking survey work around the North York Moors. I popped in yesterday, and it is using the Eastern Airways apron during its down time. There are 2 locations you can see the aircraft, drive into the airport complex heading towards the Eastern buildings, then turn last left towards the flying club. Once parked go to the fence and you will see some outside seating, and the aircraft should be in front of you, as the below shot indicates. Second spot, drive towards the BAe Hawk, and bear right behind the BAe building, and head towards the fire station. You will see the stored Eastern J41's on the left, and you can drive up to the fence next to the remains of J41 G-GCJL. This spot looks across the Eastern Apron, and the second shot below is from here, and is probably best later in the day when the sun moves round.

The aircraft first flew in 1943, so has a long and varied history - HERE It is fitted with a long probe coming from the rudder area during its surveying. The reason for the survey is documented - HERE  An interesting video of the aircraft is HERE

Grab it while you can!!
