Cruise in Arabian Sea 7 - 15th Feb 2025   Dave Anderson

Where better to go for a a bit of winter sunshine than the UAE? temps in mid 20s and nice dry sunny days coupled with a superb cruise on the MSC Euribia out of Dubai. The trip was booked and flights with Emirates from Newcastle soon arrived, nothing of interest at Newcastle other than the lovely Emirates brunch in the recently refurbished Aspire lounge. Our jet was Boeing 777-31HER A6-ENI, leaving on time and arriving into Dubai just after midnight their time, nothing was noted and it was off to the hotel for an overnight stay before boarding the ship the following morning. The cruise terminal sits just off the approach to Dubai International, aircraft were landing over the sea for a short while then all other movements seen here were departing out to sea. Our balcony looked out to the sea so everything that left could be seen (for the short time we were in it). Needing only a few for the Emirates for the fleet, these were seen over the trip and since my last visit the FlyDubai fleet had grown, all but 5 were seen. We spent most days in port out and about so logs are fairly short.

Doha Qatar 9th Feb 2025

The next morning we woke up moored in the cruise port in Doha, from our balcony the main airport wasn't too far away and all movements could be seen. Dominated by Qatar Airways, photo's were ok from the left departing runway. Only needing a few for the Qatar fleet, all but 3 were seen, 3 MAX8's that looked to be stored over at the old airport which is very close to the new airport but not connected by ground taxi ways. I could see the old airport from the back of the ship, but no MAX's seen, for another time!

This could be seen from the back of the ship, most of the Bizz and Qatar Emiri flight as well as some mil, light aircraft and Gulf Helicopters operate from here. I couldn't see the 3 Qatar MAX8's that are stored here, those below all flew.

Abu Dhabi Int 12 Feb 2025 (no Etihad included in the log)

Our next stop was Abu Dhabi, the port was a few miles from the airport but with aircraft landing over the sea, everything could be seen on approach. No good for photo's but a few mil choppers passed close by as there was a special forces base not far away. While out during the day 8 F15's together flew past the city climbing out of an airbase not far away.
