Historic Photos - Accidents & Incidents

We have been given on loan a huge number of photos taken at Teesside from the 60s to 00s all taken airside of some very special aircraft to visit. This is the Mishap album, we have tried to add as much info on each aircraft as we can and in no way is it complete - please feel free to help with any additional info or dates etc - DA.

Special thanks to Trevor Jones ex airport official photographer for 30 years who took most of the images, Brian Hunter for a lot of info and Steve Curtis for sending a lot of the images.

Aircraft are in date order where known, then registration/serial order thereafter and finally complete unknowns at the bottom.

This RAF TriStar unfortunately didn't make the turn when attempting a back-track and got stuck in the mud after landing on a flight from Split with 135 pax on 17 Jan 1995. An RAF team was flown in by Hercules to dig the aircraft out, the airport was closed until the morning of 18th but the aircraft remained here until the following day due to fog.

Visiting on a MOD Charter, the aircraft made not only a very heavy landing but short of the 05 threshold at that! It remained here until 28/10 after repairs were carried out. This photo from Richard Bowater shows the damage to the underside of the rear fuselage.

An apparent nose-wheel collapse and subsequent runway excursion. Believed to have taken place during the 1980s, the aircraft would suffer a similar incident in 2012 under the same owners.
